Minister of Education and Higher Education, Rima Karami, issued Memorandum No. 23/M/2026, according to which she specified the Easter holiday for the Catholic and Orthodox Christian denominations in public and private schools. The decision was based on the regulatory decrees and decisions in force, especially those related to determining actual teaching days and official holidays, in addition to the administrative memorandum issued by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers regarding the closure of public departments and institutions on this occasion. According to the memorandum, public and private secondary schools, schools, and technical institutes of all types and stages will be closed in two periods: For Catholic denominations: from the morning of Thursday, April 2, 2026 until the evening of Monday, April 6, 2026. For Orthodox denominations: from the morning of Thursday, April 9, 2026 until the evening of Monday, April 13, 2026. Karami extended her sincere wishes to all workers in the public and private educational sectors, appreciating their efforts during the current stage, stressing the importance of the national role they play in light of the current circumstances.
